AUSTIN, Texas – Jan. 6, 2011 – The 2011 Texas Inaugural Committee today
announced that tickets for its BBQ Lunch on January 18, which were previously $8
per person, are now available at no charge at www.2011TexasInaugural.com.

Eats Beat: Tarrant County smokes barbecue competition

The pit hit the fan last week over barbecue rankings.
But the result is good news for Tarrant County.
The Dallas Morning News named its nine "Best Barbecue" stops -- and just as in D
Magazine, more than half were in Tarrant County.
Some food writers and bloggers immediately complained that the News list tracked
D's, originally compiled by avid barbecue diner and blogger Daniel Vaughn of Dallas.
Both zeroed in on five Tarrant County restaurants: Angelo's Bar-B-Que and
Smokey's BBQ in Fort Worth, Bartley's Bar-B-Q in Grapevine, Off the Bone BBQ in
Forest Hill, and Longoria's BBQ in Everman.
Angelo's and Longoria's made past Texas Monthly top-50 lists. Smokey's is in a
rebirth using recipes from former presidential pit-master Eddie Deen.
Off the Bone is still a relative newcomer and has drawn the most attention.

What: Affordable BBQ, Chicken Fried Steak Chicken Fried Chicken $6.95 with
Vegs.
When: February 6, 2011 4PM-end of game
Where: Smokeys 5300 East Lancaster Ave.
Why: We didn't have $200 for tickets to stand outside and $300-$500 for
parking a mile away, so this made more sense, Good BBQ with Customers
and Friends.
Seating is limited, please call if you are planning on bring a group to reserve
space.
We will have a Gift giveaway each quarter.
